Cooking Together

We are back cooking! January 2014:

Tasty Savoury & Sweet Tartlets!

Cook along with us this week and next!

What you need:

First make the Pastry:

175g   Plain Flour
A pinch of salt
85g butter/margarine
2-3 tablespoons of cold water

After weighing the ingredients, we blended the flour and butter in the food processor and added the water. Hey Presto... Pastry! It was very easy but we were very careful using the food processor with the assistance of the adults. We rolled out the pastry, cut circles for the tartlets and placed them in the bun tin ready now for the savory filling.

For the Savoury Filling:

You will need:
2 eggs, beaten
Cooked ham or chicken! We used chicken!
60g grated cheese
150ml milk
Salt & Pepper for seasoning.

We mixed these ingredients together, spooned the mixture into the pastry cases and cooked the tartlets for 15 minutes in the oven at 200 degrees Centigrade. Delicious! We made 12 tartlets!

Log in next week!We will be making sweet tartlets!

Sweet Jam Tartlets

Using the same style of cooking we made "Sweet Tartlets"!

We made the pastry cases in the same way as we did for the "Savory Tartlets"!

Then we filled them with jam and decorated them with little pastry shapes.
We made the presentation boxes while the tartlets were cooking in the oven at 200 degrees for 15 minutes.

Everyone loved them!
Be careful! The jam is very hot. Wait for the tartlets to cool before tasting!
