The Return of the Liam MacCarthy Cup.
It was Friday the 8th February 2013. It was a special day for Sallins N.S. The school looked like a big Kilkenny flag, there was black and amber bunting everywhere. We were very excited. We were waiting for the arrival of Paul Murphy and Eoin Larkin and the Liam MacCarthy cup. Mrs. Griffith and the principal, Mr. Lanigan, Shane and Ciara showed them to the library and then we got to know the players. We asked them questions and here are two; ‘If you could pick a stadium anywhere in the world where would it be’? A stadium in Madrid called Bernabeu. ‘How do you feel about the new helmets and fibreglass hurls? Do you think it would help?’ "Yes", Eoin Larkin said, "it would be safer and the helmets are a good idea". They said we should watch out for Kevin Kelly and Walter Walsh. Eoin Larkin and Paul Murphy are in the Defence Forces. Last year they tried to defend the All Ireland title and they did. We got to hold the Liam MacCarthy Cup together. We got a photo with them and then we showed them to the 6th classes. It was a great day for the school and everybody got to be a part of it!!!

The Liam MacCarthy Cup pays a second trip to Sallins N.S.
On Friday 8th February 2013, Eoin Larkin (Kilkenny Captain) and Paul Murphy (Kilkenny hurler) paid a visit to us in Sallins with their great friend 'Liam MacCarthy'! The children got to ask the Kilkenny players questions and some got to hold the MacCarthy cup. The two players were asked how they managed to win the cup and they told the children plenty of practice and training was needed to win.
