Liam MacCarthy Visits St. Laurence's N.S.

On the 9th December 2011 the school was festooned with flags, bunting, hurleys, jerseys and other decorations. We were awaiting important visitors.

At 11.20 Eoin Larkin, next years captain of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling team, and his teammate, Paul Murphy, arrived at our school along with the Liam MacCarthy Cup. Pupils had been excitedly preparing for this visit for the last while. The Kilkenny players answered all the questions posed to them with great humour and candour. They encouraged all children to try their best in their own chosen sport and studies.

The children got to see, touch, hold and be photographed with the Liam MacCarthy Cup.   A great time was had by all on this very special occassion.  A big thanks is owed to all people who helped prepare for the big event. We enjoyed seeing the Liam MacCarthy Cup up close and again we thank Eoin and Paul for making the trip to Kildare. The day could only have been better if it had been Kildare that had won the Liam MacCarthy Cup!!
