GAA Autumn 2013

Double Delight for Sallins U/11s.
Wednesday 23rd October 2013

Scoil Naomh Lorcán  3-4
Caragh N.S.   1-2

After the winning the Division 3 Football Championship on Tuesday 15th October, the Under 11 Hurling Team created history by winning the school’s first hurling title!

Unbeaten on their way to the final, the Sallins hurlers were caught napping in the opening half of the game as Caragh started well and a well taken goal gave them the lead. Sallins slowly got into the game and managed to get a goal against the wind just before the break, which gave them great hope for the second half.

An early goal from Seán Gaines at the beginning of the second half gave Sallins the start they needed. All over the field the Sallins team showed great character, upping their work rate and skill level! Another goal from James Dalton delighted the Sallins supporters. A point from team captain Darren Keane and a great solo effort from centre-back Eoin McConnon, widened the gap between the teams and Sallins never looked back.

There were scenes of great excitement and joy as the final whistle blew.
A first hurling title and a double championship season!!

Well Done to all of the players involved, a great reward for all of your hard work!
