Welcome back to Sallins National School Cooking Page!

We have a new team organised to try out tasty and tempting recipies from a selection of our favourite cookery books! View our "September Menu" and cook along with us!

6th September 2013

Best wishes to all our chefs & bakers who have moved on to secondary school! We have a new team ready to carry on the tradition of bringing tasty treats to your computer screen. All our recipies are tried and tested during our sessions! Our step by step picture gallery shows you how we work together.

Fruit Smoothies!
You will need:
1 Banana
Fresh Strawberries!
200ml Apple Juice
200ml Natural Yoghurt
1 tbsp Runny Honey

Simply follow our picture guide. We tasted the smoothie with just strawberries and then added banana!

13th September 2013

Another Friday and we are ready to cook! Today we are making:
French Toast

• Prep time: 10 minutes
• Cook time: 15 minutes

You Will Need:
• 4 eggs
• 2/3 cup milk
• 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
• slices of bread
• Butter to fry
• Runny honey to serve!

Did you spot our Birthday Celebration. One of the group turned 12 today!

20th September 2013

Week Three! Today we met and cooked and ate Pizza! With the oven warming up to 220 C, we used a bread machine to prepare the Pizza Dough!
For the Dough

2 tsp dried yeast
225g plain flour
Half tsp salt
175ml water
1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
All the above are blended in the machine. It takes 45 mins so naturally we used some we had prepared earlier!
See below right how we prepared the Pizza Dough!

Pizza Toppings

400g canned chopped tomatoes
Salt & Pepper to taste
Sliced Ham
Grated Mozzarella Cheese
Yellow Pepper sliced
Tinned Pineapple Chunks
Sliced mushrooms

Simply cook along with us! We each decorated our own pizza of choice and played a fun game of 'Headbanz' for 15 minutes while our pizzas cooked.
It's all in the pictures below! We gave our pizzas the thumbs up! Yum!

Fruit Scones

You will need:

200g Self Raising Flour

50g Caster Sugar
50g Margarine
1/4 tsp Salt
100g Sultanas
1 Medium Egg
75ml (5 tablespoons) Milk
Follow our slide show to make delicious scones. We used the food processor to blend the ingredients and added sultanas into some of the scone mix! Butter and Jam to serve.
Oven: 220C for 10 minutes!


Stewed Apples!

And... Custard!
